ALBANY Mayor Jerry Jennings today is expected to name a panel to help him pick a new city judge in the most coveted appointment the freshman mayor has so far had to dole out.
At least eight names have surfaced so far in the competition for the $86,000-a-year post that will be vacated Jan. 1 by Larry Rosen, who was elected Tuesday in an uncontested race for Albany County judge.
Jennings said Wednesday that he plans to seek advice. He said he will announce today the appointment of a mayoral judicial review committee, made up of lawyers and other citizens, to make a recommendation.
