Fed: ALP union affiliation rule referred to committee: = 2

Unions, including the powerful Australian Workers Union, had complained about changes
to alter the trade union affiliation system with the Queensland Labor Party.

Instead of unions being allocated delegate numbers at future conferences on the size
of their membership, they would be allocated on the basis of union fees.

Mr BEATTIE says the National Executive decision puts in place a process and a deadline
to see the will of the conference realised.

Mr BEATTIE says it means his comprehensive reform of the Labor Party will be completed
by the end of the year.
