Fed: Macfarlane apologise for BAS pain and admits broken promise
Small Business Minister IAN MACFARLANE has apologised to small business for the Business
Activity Statement.
And he's admitted the complex system broke an election promise.
The government has announced changes to the BAS to simplify the system and ease the
compliance burden on small businesses.
Under the changes, small businesses with a turnover of less than $2 million now have
the option of lodging the statements only once a year.
But the GST payments still have to be made every quarter.
