Dan Adler's "Send a Mensch to Congress" TV Spots for California's Special Congressional Election Go Viral, Gain International Media Coverage from All Sides of the Political Spectrum
LOS ANGELES -- Congressional candidate Dan Adler, a new media entrepreneur, producer, and former VP of Business Development at Walt Disney Imagineering, has grabbed the attention and imagination of voters in California and political spectators around the country through a series ofTV ads and viral videos that urge viewers to Send a Mensch to Congress. In response to many questions asking what exactly a mensch is, the Adler campaign enlisted the help of actor and comedian Paul Reiser in defining the term.
In addition to Reiser, numerous California voters also weigh in on their definition of the word. You can see the videos here: What's a Mensch?
Adler's campaign continues its use of unconventional TV and web advertising to speak directly to the diverse citizens of California's 36th Congressional District in the time remaining before tomorrow's special election. Adler's latest TV ad entitled ""Your Vote Is Your Voice/Tu Voto Es Tu Voz" depicts Dan learning basic Spanish from a young girl of Latina origin while her mother watches (and Mom, too, wonders "what's a mensch?"). Adler's campaign videos ranging from the serious to the comedic have ignited an internet frenzy of discussion and generated national and international media attention-- including a bizarre endorsement from conservative political pundit Glenn Beck.
The Adler campaign has purchased thousands of 30-second slots aimed at reaching those unaware of the special election and uninterested in voting for another career politician. The ad campaign also spreads Adler's message to minority voters, who make up nearly half the District but are often ignored by the traditional Democratic and Republican campaigns.
Campaign officials say the ads will be seen by most TV households in the 36th Congressional District multiple times prior to tomorrow. With the television advertising buy, the Adler campaign is urging all the people of the 36th District to go to the polls on May 17th. "Thomas Jefferson had it right when he said that the House of Representatives should be filled with 'Citizen Legislators,' not career politicians." Adler continued, "But this election is too important to everyone in the 36th District for them NOT to vote, and we are doing our part to make sure everyone is aware of the election this Tuesday. The success of our American democracy correlates to the level of participation of its people."
Though he did not enter the race until five weeks ago, Adler has already created momentum and showed strong fundraising support, raising enough money to catapult past 12 of the 15 candidates in the race. He has performed well in numerous debates and earned praise for his command of the issues, both foreign and domestic. Adler has also received endorsements from leaders and entertainment pioneers, including Michael Eisner, Macy Gray, Patty Duke, Anna Deavere Smith, Lawrence Bender, Geraldine Laybourne, Michael Tolkin, and Norman Lear.
